How we compared the offers
We took the same R1,000 first deposit at every casino and worked out three things from its own terms. First, how big the bonus is. Second, how much you’d have to bet before you can withdraw. Third, what that betting costs on average.
The last step needs one assumption. Slots pay back about R96 of every R100 you bet over time, which is a 96% return to player (RTP). So if a bonus needs R30,000 in bets, you’d expect to lose about R1,200 along the way. When that cost is more than the bonus is worth, the bonus isn’t worth taking.
| Casino | Wagering | Bonus on a R1,000 deposit | Bets needed | Time to finish | Average cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easybet | 15x deposit on slots, then 1x bonus | R1,500 | R16,500 | 30 days, then 7 days | R660 |
| Jackpot City | 30x bonus (match capped at R500) | R500 | R15,000 | Not published | R600 |
| Lucky Fish | 20x deposit | R1,000 | R20,000 | 7 days | R800 |
| Sportingbet | 30x bonus | R1,000 | R30,000 | 60 days | R1,200 |
| Goldrush | 30x bonus | R1,000 | R30,000 | 7 days | R1,200 |

| World Sports Betting | 30x bonus | R1,000 | R30,000 | Not published | R1,200 |
| Supabets | Deposit once, then 30x bonus | R1,000 | R31,000 | 30 days | R1,240 |
| ZARbet | 30x bonus | R2,000 | R60,000 | Not published | R2,400 |
| TicTacBets | 35x bonus | R1,000 | R35,000 | 48 hours | R1,400 |

| 10bet | 35x deposit + bonus | R1,000 | R70,000 | 30 days | R2,800 |
| Playabets | 35x deposit + bonus | R1,000 | R70,000 | 7 days | R2,800 |
| YesPlay | 7x deposit + bonus, slots count 10% | R1,000 | R140,000 | 7 days | R5,600 |
Average cost assumes every bet goes on slots that keep about R4 of every R100.
The two bonuses worth taking on slots
Only two offers cost clearly less to clear than they pay. Easybet’s 150% match makes you bet your deposit 15 times on slots before you get the bonus, but after that the bonus only has to be played through once. On R1,000, that’s R16,500 in bets for a R1,500 bonus, and about R660 in average losses. You also get 30 days for the first part, which is more than most casinos give for the whole thing.
Jackpot City comes close. Its matches are capped at R500 a deposit, and each one costs about R600 on average to clear at 30 times the bonus, so they’re roughly break-even. On each of your first four deposits you can take free spins instead.
Lucky Fish asks for 20 times your deposit within a week, which is R20,000 on R1,000 and costs about R800. The catch is the size. The match stops at R1,000, so it suits smaller deposits.
Why the biggest numbers cost the most
The largest headline offers are spread over several deposits, and the wagering grows with them. Goldrush’s “up to R25,000” adds up to R28,000 over four deposits, all due in your first week, and collecting it in full would mean betting about R815,000. Impressario’s R20,000 match asks for 40 times the bonus, so the full amount needs R800,000 in bets inside seven days.
At 30 times the bonus, Sportingbet is no cheaper than most, but it handles the money better. You get 60 days, and 10% of the bonus becomes withdrawable cash each time you finish a tenth of the wagering, so stopping halfway still leaves you half of it.
Bonuses that suit sports bettors more
Some welcome bonuses look expensive for slot players because they’re built for sport. YesPlay counts only 10% of each slot bet, while sports bets at odds of 3.1 or more count in full. Playabets and 10bet both ask for 35 times your deposit plus the bonus on casino games, but only 6 times on sport. If you mostly play slots, all three are better skipped.
Casinos without a deposit match
Hollywoodbets gives R25 for sports and 50 free spins just for registering, and nothing on your first deposit. Betfred’s welcome bonus money only works on sports, so casino players get up to 750 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza over three deposits. Betway has the smallest offer, 10 free spins, 10 Aviator flights and a R10 free bet once you’ve wagered R50. Our free spins with no deposit and R50 sign up bonus pages compare the offers you can get without paying in.
What to check before you take a welcome bonus
- Whether the wagering counts the bonus alone or your deposit as well. The second doubles the betting.
- How much each game counts. Most casinos count slots in full and table and live games at 10% or less.
- The deadline. Several offers give you 48 hours to 7 days.
- The most you can bet while the bonus is active, and the most you can withdraw from it.
- Whether you have to opt in or enter a code before you deposit. At Playabets, WSB, YesPlay and ZARbet, skipping that step can cost you the bonus.
- Whether withdrawing early cancels the bonus. At Easybet, for example, any withdrawal clears your bonus balance.
How we checked these offers
Every figure comes from the welcome terms on each casino’s own site, read from a South African connection. Easybet’s terms were read on 5 November 2026 and the other casinos’ on 29 and 30 October 2026. The full terms and our sums for each casino are in its review.
